Why Self-Awareness Doesn’t Always Lead to Change?
This month, I’m sharing the longest video I’ve made so far for my YouTube series, Hypnosis Q & A from Around the World.
Usually, I take a question I’ve received from a client or someone who has reached out to me and bring it with me on the road, answering it from different locations around the world.
This time, however, the question came from my own observations of the many people I’ve worked with over the years:
Why does insight so often fail to create lasting change?
Why can we understand something deeply, yet continue living as if we don’t?
The entire video was filmed in beautiful Victoria, Australia.
Many of us unconsciously turn healing, calmness, spirituality, and even self-awareness into performances. In the process, we begin measuring ourselves, monitoring our progress, and trying to “do healing right.”
Ironically, that effort can sometimes move us further away from genuine transformation.
Drawing on my clinical experiences with clients struggling with anxiety, OCD, and spiritual growth, I explore the difference between insight and embodiment. Insight belongs largely to the thinking mind, while lasting change involves something deeper than intellectual understanding.
True regulation isn’t something we perform. It emerges when the nervous system experiences genuine safety.
In this video, I explore:
• Why healing can become another performance
• The difference between insight and embodiment
• Why trying to stay calm can sometimes create more anxiety
• The hidden trap of reassurance and forced positivity
• What it means to live from the inside out rather than the outside in
• How real transformation can happen without needing constant proof or validation
Whether you’re interested in hypnosis, personal growth, psychology, spirituality, or simply understanding your own mind more deeply, this conversation offers a different perspective on what genuine healing really looks like.
