There were many times in my sessions I felt at loss. Things didn’t go as I intended, or they didn’t go as my clients expected. There were many times a session twisted itself and I found myself delivering in a very different manner from what we anticipated. And then there were times a session became so fluid that I started to wonder where this was going to go.
Suggestibility is one important aspect of hypnotherapy, as suggestion is big part of the practice of hypnotherapy.
I have also had clients who told me excitedly on the follow-up phone call of all the changes in their life: For some reason, the creativity is flowing freely now. For some reason, I don’t agonize on the decisions anymore, even though the decision hasn’t been made. I am okay in this situation now. For some reason, I smoke less cigarettes now, I just don’t feel like it as much as I used to. For some reason… – by the way, I don’t think I was hypnotized. At least I didn’t go deep into trance. I’m not sure if hypnosis works for me.
We humans are a really very interesting bunch. I’m always amazed at how we complicate communications. Knowing this is not only helpful in our profession to effectively use language for direct or indirect types of people, but it also helps in daily communications with friends, colleagues and family.
