Enhance Your Sports with Hypnotherapy

Your mind is your most important athletic asset. Your body is the manifestation of this asset. The use of hypnosis to enhance sports performance is widely recognized, as they say, sports are 90% mental.

A hypnotherapist can help remove negative mindsets. A player can have great potential but if his mind is not in agreement, problems arise. The body will not do anything that the mind doesn’t allow it to. By proper use of the mind, a player can live up to his abilities and potentials.

The techniques include relaxation, concentration, positive suggestions, post-hypnotic suggestions, NLP, and imagery. Also, an athlete can learn Self-Hypnosis which can be used while actually playing the sport.

Some known examples of using hypnosis for success in sports:

  • Soccer teams Ipswich Town, and Swindon Town both used hypnosis to help their teams, and in both cases, the teams saw a dramatic positive effect;
  • The Pakistan cricket team used sports hypnosis during the 2009 cricket season;
  • Australian pole vaulter Steve Hooker used hypnotherapy to help boost his visualization and confidence, taking the Gold medal in the 2009 Beijing Olympics;
  • Phil Jackson (NBA head coach) insists that the Chicago Bulls practiced daily self-hypnosis when he coached Michael Jordan and the Bulls to their 6 NBA Championships. Later, after coaching the Los Angeles Lakers to a win in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals in 2002, Jackson credited his morning practice of self-hypnosis, meditation, and visualization which gave the Lakers the belief that they could win;
  • Boxer Ken Norton used hypnosis training before his famous victory over Mohammed Ali;
  • The entire 1983 Chicago White Sox team used hypnosis to help win their division and reach the playoffs that year;
  • Tiger Woods’ mental coach, Jay Brunza, hypnotizes him to block out distractions and focus on the golf course;
  • Famous tennis player, Jimmy Connors, used hypnosis in winning the U.S. Open Championship;
  • Jack Nicklaus claims that his success is entirely owed to practicing concentration and visualization.
