Hypnotherapy for BDD - Body Dysmorphic Disorder

It appears similar to those associated with OCD. If you have BDD, you may become preoccupied with thoughts of a physical defect in your appearance or have an exaggerated concern about a small defect of some kind. This preoccupation can cause a real problem in your life. Thinking about this defect can occupy your thoughts for an hour a day or more.

Often the obsessive thoughts are concerned with your facial features or your hair but can be about any part of your body. The disorder often begins in adolescence and as it becomes worse, can lead to a great deal of internal suffering.

People with BDD are highly sensitized to thinking about themselves. They can’t do it without feeling negative emotions. In a sense, they are phobic of their own self.

You may become extremely anxious in social situations, consult plastic surgeons and undergo painful or risky operations to try to change the defect that is concerning you so much. These medical procedures rarely give the relief from the symptoms you expect. Indeed, they can often make the symptoms worse.

BDD may cause problems in your relationships or make it difficult to concentrate on everyday matters. The causes of BDD can be very different for each person – biological, psychological, environmental, and emotional.

If you find yourself frequently looking in reflective surfaces, picking your skin, or needing constant reassurance about your defect then hypnotherapy can help. Hypnotherapy is a very good tool to communicate with our inner mind, where all the thoughts come from, in a meaningful way.

You do not have to suffer the social isolation and depression that often accompanies Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD). You don’t have to have a lot of trouble going through day to day life, consumed by the negative thoughts about yourself and your appearance. You can gain body confidence and allow your daily life to be easy. All initial consultations are free of charge.
