Hypnotherapy for Your Body Posture and Body Language

Body Posture

Body posture can change as we age, worry, are stressed, and have low self-esteem. In many cases, the change happens over a period of time and is mostly done unconsciously. That’s why hypnotherapy can help, as it works primarily with the unconscious mind.

If you were able to focus the whole day through on nothing but your posture and body language, you would probably stand perfectly straight all of the time. However, as you go about your day your mind of course is on other things. Hypnosis can program your subconscious mind to “remind” your body to straighten up – all without thinking about it consciously.

As we know much of posture is related to muscle tone and the strength of your skeletal system as a whole. Regular exercises will help keep up good bone density. Using weights or resistance training will improve muscle tone. The two together will do what is possible physically to improve posture. Hypnosis then picks up where physical ends – the psychological and unconscious factors that affect posture. Hypnosis will also help with motivation for regular exercise.

Body Language

Body language affects how others see us, but it may also change how we see ourselves. In the following video, social psychologist Amy Cuddy shows how “power posing” — standing in a posture of confidence, even when we don’t feel confident — can affect testosterone and cortisol levels in the brain, and might even have an impact on our chances for success.

Amy Cuddy’s research on body language reveals that we can change other people’s perceptions — and even our own body chemistry — simply by changing body positions.

Amy Cuddy wasn’t supposed to become a successful scientist. In fact, she wasn’t even supposed to finish her undergraduate degree. Early in her college career, Cuddy suffered a severe head injury in a car accident, and doctors said she would struggle to fully regain her mental capacity and finish her undergraduate degree.

But she proved them wrong. Today, Cuddy is a professor and researcher at Harvard Business School, where she studies how nonverbal behavior and snap judgments affect people from the classroom to the boardroom. And her training as a classical dancer (another skill she regained after her injury) is evident in her fascinating work on “power posing” — how your body position influences others and even your own brain.

How can hypnotherapy help?

Hypnosis helps create in your mind an awareness of how you are moving, standing, or sitting so it helps you improve posture. It can remove the stresses through relaxation methods and create more of an awareness about how you are in your body. Hypnotherapy offers a number of techniques that can be useful for the mental rehearsal of a desired behaviour. It helps us become what we want instead of simply pretending it.

Hypnotherapeutic techniques are based on behavioural, cognitive, and/or psychodynamic psychological principles combined with hypnosis.

Among people who Kemila Zsange has worked with are some in their 70’s and 80’s. Some call it salvation as they benefit from one session and continuously use the personalized mp3 audio that Kemila made for them. After listening to the message in the audio for a few weeks, your mind has developed a silent internal dialog of messages and signals to change a behavior, so as to maintain good posture. This can be anything from overeating to slouching.

Contact Kemila today to set up one session to improve body posture and body language, and have the audio custom-made for you for home use self-hypnosis.

Schedule your first Counselling-Hypnotherapy session with Kemila in person. If it’s via Skype, please go to the Skype page. For returned clients, click here for scheduling a Regular Session.
