What Happens During a Hypnotherapy Session?
A session consists of using proven hypnotherapeutic techniques such as progressive relaxation, direct suggestion, guided imagery and active imagination in order to tap into your subconscious awareness. Kemila works with you in this powerful hypnotic state to help you realize your goals and to create the changes you desire.
Kemila’s session is highly unstructured. She uses whatever you bring in to the session and uses the strong tool of her gentle voice to guide you into the forgotten memories and inner resources to explore the missing links, voices, ideas and insights, so that the symptoms lose its validity as issues dissolve and defense mechanism unguards, so you start to live your dreams, instead of dreaming about living.
In this pleasant state, the subconscious becomes freer and more receptive to new information, allowing it to accept positive and beneficial suggestions, to release emotional blocks acting as obstacles to achieving one’s goals and desires, and to transform old habits and patterns into new and constructive ones and even to harmonize bodily processes that can facilitate healing and optimize health.
A session is usually an hour and half to two hours long. The process of a session is with the following components:
- At the first session we will discuss your presenting issues and your goals, and determine together the number of sessions which may be appropriate for you and your particular situation. We will come up with a treatment plan. A series of 3-6 sessions is optimal for each presenting issue, though you may experience significant and lasting results after just one session. Hypnosis is introduced and experienced during the initial session. We will establish a deep state that we call somnambulist state. Depending on issues you may receive a customized audio recording after this session, providing you opportunity to gain more benefits from future appointments as you can delve deeper into hypnosis. This also provides you extra value with extra personalized relaxation sessions at home at no extra cost.
- In follow-up sessions, we check what’s new, what changed and what’s different. This ususally takes 1/3 of the session time.
- Trance work – the hypnosis part of the session, during which, most people focus their attention in a way that allows for unconscious learning. The hypnotherapist uses stories, metaphors, direct suggestions, questions, and what looks like normal conversation to help engage unconscious abilities on behalf of what you want. For those who are familiar with NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), yes there are a lot of NLP components in a session. Such an interaction assists in discovering new perceptions and making new meaning of habitual experiences. In the course interacting with the hypnotherapist your natural abilities, both conscious and unconscious, are engaged on behalf of accomplishing the desires and well-being – This usually takes 1/2 of time.
- You learn self-hypnosis as a self-care tool to use to strengthen changes after the work is done.
- Reorientation – After the session, you will be brought back to wakefulness and you will feel refreshed, just as though you’ve had a nap. We then go over the information we received and we discuss the answers to the questions you brought with you. This takes the rest of the session time.
What Covers in the Trance Work?
Besides suggestions, the following components may cover in the trance work:
Regression – accessing past experiences where the limiting belief was created, and then helping you resolve the issue.
Revivification – helping yoou access resources from past that can be linked to the current problem to resolve it.
Reframing – helping you see a situation from a different perspective than what you thought was possible. Simply put, opening up your choices.
Reintegration – if you have a “parts conflict”, where one part wants the change, but another part doesn’t, I will help you reintegrate and dissolve the limiting belief.
What does Hypnosis Feel Like?
Hypnosis is a naturally-occurring mind state which most of us enter spontaneously many times throughout an ordinary day. We enter into a light hypnotic trance when we are doing something routine, such as driving, brushing our teeth or showering, or when we are deeply relaxed, daydreaming, engaged in a book or movie or engrossed in a favorite activity. More commonly, we go into a trance state right before falling asleep.
The feelings that you will experience during hypnosis are similar to dozing off, dozing off, dozing off… but not entering sleep. Most people feel incredibly relaxed, aware and unusually focused while they are being hypnotized. It is accompanied by an extraordinary feeling of calmness and is a deeply relaxing experience, physically, mentally and emotionally.
Hypnosis is not normal awareness. It is increased awareness. It is not unconsciousness but a keen awareness. This is a state in which the mind works so well and the law of self-preservation works so beautifully that no one could ever take advantage of you in the hypnotic state. That is why in the history of the world no harm or damage has been done by hypnosis. People who don’t know how to explain these things and wrote books about hypnosis have infested hypnosis with a lot of false ideas. David Elman said, “It is perhaps one of the most beautiful states that God has made possible to mankind, and this beautiful state contains nature’s own anesthesia which He makes available to every one of us.”
During your first session with a hypnotherapist, you may hear a statement “All hypnosis is self-hypnosis.” This is so because hypnosis is a consent state. No one can force another person into the hypnotic state. Okay you say on stage some people are hypnotized and do all sorts of funny things, like barking like a dog, or clucking like a chicken. What do I have to say about that? Well if you are that person, you know it more than I do. If you are not that person, then how do you know he is not enjoying the show and having a great time, perhaps more so than you in the audience?
